Today, would've been my mom's 60th birthday. And no, she wouldn't mind me telling her age. Mom embraced her age and was never afraid to tell anyone how old she was. In fact, she was looking forward to being 55 so she could get the "senior discount" at certain places (other places said you had to be 60). She met her goal and got the 55-year-old senior discount.
A few other important things happened today too. I got my ATT (authorization to test) for my LPN. So, now I'm scheduled to take my boards on the 29th of this month.
Today, was also the first day of my Couch to 5K. I just got home from my first workout about half an hour ago. It felt GREAT. I kinda forgot how much of a laxative effect one gets from running/jogging. Holy crap! No pun intended.
What 2 better ways to honor my mom's memory than to take care of myself and be one step closer to my LPN and soon, my RN. She met her goal, now I'm going to meet mine. Awesome.
To Mom: Thank you for being such an inspiration to all of those around you. Everyone who ever met you was lucky to know you (and they'll even admit to it). Hope you don't mind me posting it here. This is one of my very favorite pictures of you. I love your smile, and, as Gayle said can "almost hear the giggle".
